Isabelita F. The purpose of the study was to find out if there is a significant relationship between the measured maternal acceptance-rejection as expressed by the mother and the following variables: child's academic achievement, child's personal and social adjustment. It was also designed to find out if the child's perception of maternal acceptance-rejection is significantly related to his/her academic achievement, personal and social adjustment, and sex. Furthermore, this study was conducted to determine if there is a significant relationship between mother's acceptance-rejection and the child's perception of his attitude. A total of 120 children coming from grades five, six and seven and their respective mothers were selected purposely as the subjects. This study was descriptive in nature and it made use of the survey method in gathering data. The instruments used were the Manifest Rejection Index and the California Test of Personality. The Pearson product-moment and point biserial correlation coefficient were used to determine the relationship among the variables under study. Results indicated that there is no significant relationship between measured maternal acceptance-rejection, as expressed by the mother, and the following variables: child's academic achievement, personal and social adjustment. Moreover, results showed that there is no significant relationship between the child's perception of maternal acceptance-rejection and his/her academic achievement, personal and social adjustment. There is a significant relationship, though, between the child's perception of maternal acceptance-rejection and sex. There is also no significant relationship between the mother's acceptance-rejection and the child's perception of this attitude. With these findings, other variables should, therefore, be considered to explain or predict a child's academic achievement and adjustment. 1986-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/1213 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Prediction of scholastic success Maternal rejection |
