Specifically, it sought to find answers to the following inquiries: 1. What are their problems when these offenders are grouped according to categories: probationers, parolees, pardonees? 2. In what area of adjustment do the offenders experience more problems? The subjects of this study were 80 adult offenders in the 3rd and 4th districts of Quezon who were interviewed using the Focus Group Discussion Method, a qualitative research technique. Conduct of interviews was done thrice a week in the morning, lasting for two to three hours depending upon the enthusiasm and interest shown by the respondents as they participated/shared in the discussions. All the data were analyzed and interpreted. Frequency and percentage distribution were computed. Tabulation of the variables and the responses gathered, and categorizing them were also done accordingly. Content Analysis was employed for the responses received and it yielded the following: The Adult Offenders, probationers, parolees and pardonees, practically had no adjustment problems along home/family, and spiritual areas. They, however, experienced difficulties along social, emotional, occupational and moral areas and the offenders were experiencing more problems along their social, emotional, occupational and moral adjustments. The study further concluded that Filipino offenders find strong support and acceptances in the family, and they find refuge and strength in God. In the light of the findings and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations were made: 1. For the probation and parole officers to include the following topics in their rehabilitation plan/program of the client's development and improvement: a. self-understanding and awareness of feelings b. establishing self-confidence for the clients c. integrating value-formation, personality development and life goals 2. For the probation and parole officers to conduct the following activities for the clients' development and improvement: a. person-oriented teaching which give affirmation and boost the morale of the adult offenders. b. peer-group meetings and social encounters among peer-groups 3. Conduct a study similar to this one on the female adult offenders to find out if they have the same characteristics and adjustment problems 4. Conduct a study on the difference of the personality of inmates from the offenders released on probation, parole and pardon 5.
