Bioactive furanocoumarin derivatives and a sesquiterpene lactone from Ficus pumila

Ficus pumila afforded two known furanocoumarin derivatives: bergapten and oxypeucedanin hydrate and a sesquiterpene lactone: a tamaulipin isomer. The structures of the furanocoumarin derivatives were elucidated using 1H-nmr, 13 C-nmr, DEPT, and 2D CH heteronuclear correlations: CHSHF and HMBC. The s...

The sesquiterpene lactone was characterized using 1H-nmr, 13C-nmr, COSY, NOESY and mass spectrometry. Bergapten showed inhibition against S. typhi, S. aureus and E. coli while oxypeucedanin hydrate was active only with S. typhi. Both furanocoumarins have negative activities against T. mentagrophytes, C. albicans, and M. pleie. Results of the Micronuleus test showed 44 percent and 74 percent reduction in micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes with bergapten and oxypeucedanin hydrate, respectively. 1997-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/1796 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Medicinal plants Ficus (Plants) Terpenes Coumarins Lactones Microbial sensitivity tests Chemistry
