Bioactive thiophene derivative and diterpene from chrysanthemum coronarium L

Two compounds: N-isobutyl-6-(2-thiophenyl)-2-4-hexadienamide and entkaurane-3,16-diol were isolated from chloroform extract of the leaves of Chrysanthemum coronarium. Their structures were elucidated by extensive ID and 2D NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The first compound was found to reduc...

The first compound was found to reduce the number of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocyte induced by mitomycin C by 66.5 percent at a dosage of 8 mg/kg. Thus, it is an antimutagen. Both compounds are specifically active against the fungal microorganisms, C. albicans and T. mentagrophytes. For bacterial organism, the first compound was found to be active against B. subtilis and P. aeruginosa, and inactive against S. aureus and E. coli. The second compound was found active against B. subtilis and S. aureus, and inactive against P. aeruginosa and E. coli. 1998-04-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/1915 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=8753&context=etd_masteral Master's Theses English Animo Repository Plant bioactive compounds Chemical reactions Derivatization Extraction (Chemistry) Diterpenes Chrysanthemums Plant bioassay Chemistry
