Antimicrobial triterpenes from Lantana camara, Linn

The air dried leaves of Lantana camara (family: Verbenaceae, Common name: cononitas) afforded 22 B-Dimethyacryloyloxylantanolic acid, a mixture of 22 B-Dimethyacryloyloxylantanolic acid and 22 B-Angeloyloxylantanolic acid an impure lantanolic and a novel triterpene by gravity column chromatography (...

The structures of the known triterpenes were determined by comparing their 1H NMR spectral data with those of the novel compound. The two pure compounds were tested for their antimicrobial potential using the paper disc diffusion method. These compounds exhibit high level of antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Sacccharomyces cerevisiae, Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. 1996-01-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/2489 https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=9327&context=etd_masteral Master's Theses English Animo Repository Terpenes Assaying Microbial sensitivity tests Extraction (chemistry) Verbenaceae Lantana Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology Chemistry
