Summary:The study was undertaken to explore the parents' and students' points of view on the quality of life and to investigate if there was a correlation between self-esteem, social adjustment, security and academic achievement. The data were collected by the use of three instruments, namely, (1) The Culture-Free SEI Self-Esteem Inventory, (2) The Filipino Self-Appraisal Inventory, and (3) Inventori penyesuaian sosial (Social Adjustment Inventory). The questionnaire for parents and students were used to explore the parents' and students' points of view on the quality of life. The subjects of the study were 528 students from two Jesuit high schools in Indonesia.The study revealed that the important aspects for the quality of life according to parents' and students' points of view were (1) ability to reason reflectively, critically, and logically, (2) peaceful life, (3) good job and salary, (4) peace within self, (5) positive view of life, and (6) ability to accept strengths and weaknesses. The findings revealed a significant correlation between security and academic achievement among the students as a group, students with tutorial program. and students without tutorial program. There was also a significant correlation between social adjustment and academic achievement among the students as a group, students with tutorial program, and students without tutorial program. But there was no significant correlation between self-esteem and academic achievement. The study revealed no significant difference between groups of students with and without tutorial program in terms of the degree of multiple correlation of self-esteem, security, social adjustment, and academic achievement.
