While mathematics has established its importance in the modern technological world, mathematics anxiety has also spread out so rapidly and has become a global concern. It seems funny to think about mathematics being so important and yet, may dislike it, and worst, fear it. There have been many strategies and interventions made to cater to the reduction of mathematics anxiety, but they are only effective on few cases and causes. This study is an attempt to establish a suitable collection of interventions for many known causes of mathematics anxiety. Kaya Kita Math: a self-help workbook (KKM), an adaptation of Dr. Arem's Conquering Anxiety, was tried on twenty nursing students (followed through) of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and was found to be effective not just in reducing their anxiety level, but also in improving their mathematics performance in a test. This major finding is essential for mathematics anxious individuals who have been shunned out of their dreams to have better professions because of their fear and loathing towards mathematics. Liking mathematics through KKM may open opportunities for these individuals to choose math-related courses that often offer higher earnings. 2001-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/2531 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Teaching--Aids and devices Math anxiety Algebra Mathematics--Study and teaching Academic performance Nursing students Algebra |
