Summary: | This study evaluates the current Vocational Education Programs of the P. Gomez Elementary School (PBES) and the Stepping Stone Learning Center (SSLC). The specific aims of the investigation are to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the programs and to provide implications that will guide vocational program developers. Three groups of respondents from two schools consisting of 4 administrators, 20 teachers, and 40 parents participated in the study. The researcher made questionnaire based on the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) questionnaire and an interview schedule comprised the instruments that were used to assess the program. Assessment was based on the respondents evaluation of the five components of the program (1) program objectives (2) faculty handling the vocational courses (3) management (4) vocational program, and (5) pupil services. Results indicate that the overall weighted mean score for PGES respondents is 3.7 with a very good descriptive rating. For SSLC respondents the overall weighted mean obtained is 4.0 also with a very good descriptive equivalent. Outcomes of the investigation disclose that assessment of the student needs, interest and capabilities should be conducted, more facilities need to be purchased, as well as provide for a vocational program responsive to the demands of society. Establishment of a job placement center is moreover sought. |
