This study examines the effects of the WINGS cards on the development of the five thinking skills of the Preschool pupils in Manresa School. A preliminary assessment of the use of the WINGS cards was done through the Pre-test and Post-test given to the pupils with the results analyzed using the Ex-Post Facto Design. Such design enabled the researcher to observe the relation between the dependent and independent variables.The subjects of the study were 30 six-year old Prep newcomers for SY 1998-1999. The instruments used were researcher-made test which measured the five thinking skills on Comprehension, Memory, Problem Solving, Decision Making and Creative Thinking. The researcher-made tests were categorized into three. The first was on Evaluation test to see the homogenous grouping of the Prep pupils. The two other tests were the Pre-test and Post-test. The results of the tests were gathered by the researcher then the frequency distribution was made. The results were tabulated according to the five thinking skills of the two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. To test whether the variables were equal in the two populations, an F-test was initially given. After the F-test, the T-test was done to see if there was a significant difference between the two means as reflected in the results of the Pre-test and Post-test. The preliminary assessment on the use of the WINGS cards revealed that there were no significant relationships in the four areas of Memory, Comprehension, Decision Making and Problem Solving. It was only in Creative Thinking Skill that a significant result was noted. Results showed that a need to provide more challenging learning experiences could help develop the thinking skills of the Preschool pupils. Likewise, the regular evaluation of the use of the WINGS cards could help maintain the effectiveness and usefulness of the WINGS cards to meet the needs and interests of the pupils.
