Description
Summary:This study determines the perceived effects of Token Reinforcement Economy on the social skills among children with mental retardation (CWMR). Seventy participants were involved which included 10 teachers and 60 parents of CWMR from public and private SPED schools in the Division of Quezon City. A significant difference was found between the forms of economy used by parents and those used by teachers. The effects of token economy were shown by top-ranking behaviors like: 1) doing tasks independently 2) waiting for his turn 3) following rules set 4) beginning to take ownership of behavior 5) performing with confidence in front of large groups and 6) cooperating with others . It appears that both teachers and parents used token economy as interventions.
