The English ADAS-Cog was adapted into Filipino using the strategies of back translation and consensual validation by a committee of experts and lay elderly. They ascertained equivalence at the item level. In a within groups design, both the pre-final Filipino translation and the English ADAS-Cog were administered to 34 bilingual participants within an age range of 59 to 84 years and education range of 12 to 15 years. Statistical analysis using the t-test showed that the mean scores of the participants on the Filipino translation and English ADAS-Cog were not significantly different from each other (p < 0.01). It is concluded that the Filipino version of the ADS-cog (F-ADAS-cog) is equivalent with the English ADAS-cog. The F-ADAS-cog was administered to three comparison groups namely control (N=34, age 70.52 +_ 6.8, yrs of educ 8.7 +_ 3.42), Alzheimer's-AD (N=30, age 71.8 +_ 10.6, yrs of educ 10.4 +_ 3.7) and depression- D (N=30, age 69.6 +_ 8.3, yrs of educ +_ 8.23 +_ 3.8) groups. Results of the one way ANOVA show significant difference in mean scores of participants. It is concluded that the F-ADAS-cog can identify AD from the control and D groups. It significantly correlated with the F-MMSE (Pearson r= 0.88) and CDR (Pearson r= 0.81). Internal consistency computed by correlating subtest scores with total scores was at moderate to high levels (Pearson r= 0.46- 0.89). The F-ADAS-cog has high inter-rater reliability (Pearson r= 0.97- 0.98) and test-retest reliability (Pearson r=0.93-0.94). The F-ADAS-cog is valid and reliable. 2004-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/etd_masteral/3150 Master's Theses English Animo Repository Alzheimer's disease Scale analysis (Psychology) Psychological tests
