Summary: | These days, to sustain market advantage and competitiveness, organizations need to cultivate prosocial or “above and beyond” behaviors among their employees. To examine this further, this study looked into what drives positive behaviors as measured by Organizational Citizenship Behaviors. Grounded on the Social Exchange Theory, this research would like to answer if the influence of Transformational Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behaviors can further be explained by employee wellbeing as measured by Thriving at Work. Being more attuned to extra work and human interaction, human resources was used as the group of interest.
Survey data was collected from 55 airline employees and 68 employees from random organizations. Data collection was done through a composite online survey. To look into the mediating role of Thriving at Work in the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors, the study employed a mediational design that required a multiple linear regression analysis. Results would show no significance in the proposed model; hence, Thriving at Work does not mediate in the relationship. Interestingly, in doing the simple linear regression, Transformational Leadership influences Thriving at Work.
This study would be a good opportunity for future research on leadership, positive behaviors, and employee wellbeing. Looking into the contexts, peculiarities, and conditions of the organizations or industries of interest would provide perspectives that will facilitate the design, conduct, and analysis of the study. |
