Aguado, Armando Ricardo J. This study aimed to investigate the connection between expatriate roles and the development of local talent in the country of deployment. A total of three themes emerged from the semi-structured interviews that were conducted in this qualitative study: (1) Differing expectations as an expatriate, (2) Perception that hiring external talent was easier, and (3) Lack of processes to fully support organic talent growth at a local level. The results showed that while expatriate managers were generally supportive of the idea to develop local talent, there clearly remained to be personal and organizational obstacles that had to be addressed first. These findings help provide valuable insight to HR planners and multinational companies that deploy expatriates, as they can better examine the strategies behind such deployments, and ensure they are able to derive maximum effectiveness from the said programs. 2017-11-01T07:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/11279 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Career development Personnel management Human Resources Management
