In this regard, the development of translation studies is seen to parallel that of literary studies that has undergone a theory revolution with the emergence of various schools, including postcolonialism. This theoretical framework has exposed translation as part of colonial discourse. At the same time, postcolonialism has enabled the analysis of translation as a strategy of resistance. Central to the latter approach is a concern with an ethics of translation int he form of its responsibility to linguistic and cultural differences. This paper explores the possibility of a translation ethics that draws this time from the renewed assessment of universalism in contemporary theory. Does this change the way we understand translation strategies of domestication and foreignization? How does this conceive of the role of translation in the formation of national identities? 2014-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://animorepository.dlsu.edu.ph/faculty_research/12572 Faculty Research Work Animo Repository Language and languages—Political aspects Communication in politics Comparative Politics East Asian Languages and Societies
