Summary: | This paper discusses the adoption of Web 2.0 and Social Computing tools and technologies in Higher Education Institutions (HEI) using knowledge management and knowledge sharing as a primary motivation. HEI as a learning organization is explained. Understanding the different types of knowledge that are created, transferred and converted inside the organization is needed in order to look at the anchor points in the selection of technology innovations that will support the capture and sharing of these knowledge. Analysis of the nature of knowledge highly focused in knowledge management for HEI (in the academic context) as well as the process and difficulties involved in the externalization of implicit knowledge is presented in order to determine the applicability of using Web 2.0 and Social Computing tools in HEIs. |
