Description
Summary:Japanese honorifics establish the social and working relationship of people and it is indispensable in a conversation. In this research, we examine the use of Constraint-Based Modelling (CBM) and its implementation for developing a tutoring system for Japanese honorifics. We focus on implementing CBM for one form of honorifics called sonkeigo and we represent its formation through constraints. We demonstrate an implementation of a reading assistant tutor using CBM for rewriting sonkeigo expressions to their regular form and vice-versa by pattern matching via constraints.
