Mercedes T The Philippines is one of many developing nations that have turned to information and communication technology (ICT) as a tool to improve teaching and learning. Unfortunately, implementation suffers from several shortcomings: the absence of information on how ICT is actually used; a lack of coordination between public and private sector efforts; and insufficient teacher preparation. This paper begins with a discussion of the pedagogical, social, and economic benefits that developing nations hope to gain by infusing schools with ICT. It cites national policies and programs to infuse schools with ICT, as well as parallel programs initiated by the private sector. The paper then discusses each of the mentioned shortcomings in turn. 2001-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://archium.ateneo.edu/discs-faculty-pubs/115 https://d1wqtxts1xzle7.cloudfront.net/51367101/2001ICTUse.pdf?1484521557=&response-content-disposition=inline%3B+filename%3DINFORMATION_AND_COMMUNICATION_TECHNOLOGY.pdf&Expires=1592990985&Signature=SidGZh~ccX4AQgJkxkbwvqQGu4GaqLaA-F~7Km5aRku3Kst0n1f8sgFYwBHVGAnMlErluepn2AsOpfR3izcqVgHnQe-H1lIZfVrFdgtrx1G4E3tISN-5qL-cop~CFUITrMLeW56tHAl8i4qbGNr3djieHNLuqvOcWoYAHdbgsSZODqzUCaCFsgFVtdoFWpMFbHE321PQyf-YGVoIxb7guO7eB6bLotW6jYvX5WlGVW26XmN7ZxrYZPQak6QQQol3tyMxzMnlzVOwONgazivfcHVZ5eKPNlvnj8ZzPxhiSjEVgmXHZnCMD7rXPw1hIF-iIlCr0VkRD6qPQYMkgv-KPg__&Key-Pair-Id=APKAJLOHF5GGSLRBV4ZA Department of Information Systems & Computer Science Faculty Publications Archīum Ateneo information and communication technology teacher preparation developing nations national policies public and private sector Computer Sciences |
