The mixed method approach, quasi-experimental design and the qualitative analysis of students responses through open-endedquestions were used in this study. Two groups were classified into traditional and ARlearning groups with 32 students in each group. Results showed an improvement in the academic performance for bothtraditional and AR learning group, however, the normalized gain score analysisrevealed that AR learning group had a statistically significant higher academicperformance than the traditional learning group. In the students Biology attitude, ARlearning group had shown more positive attitude than the traditional learning groupalong with the use of mobile devices in the classroom. Moreover, a weak positivecorrelation was determined between the AR learners academic performance andtheir Biology attitude. The AR learning group perceived augmented reality as a toolthat can aid their studies. Based on their collective responses, AR provides life-likeimages, adds information, and allows engagement as well as enjoyment that in turnmay had influence the students conceptual understanding as evidenced by thefollowing results: enhanced visuals, supported to print-out materials, developed interest, and improved focus in learning Biology. 2018-01-01T08:00:00Z text https://archium.ateneo.edu/theses-dissertations/74 http://rizalls.lib.admu.edu.ph/#section=resource&resourceid=1742834716&currentIndex=0&view=fullDetailsDetailsTab Theses and Dissertations (All) Archīum Ateneo Biology -- Study and teaching (Secondary) -- Activity programs Augmented reality Virtual reality in education Computer-assisted instruction Academic achievement High school students -- Attitudes.
