Summary:The research delve on the improvement of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine in the game Asteroids which made use of a Finite-State Machine in order to implement the Rule-based reactive system. Knowledge acquisition, knowledge organization, knowledge manipulation, and knowledge representation play an utmost importance in the development of the system. This system was created in order to demonstrate the new techniques in creating artificial intelligence for the games such as modification of collision box technique for use in determining distances, infinite space technique, and the patterned evasion technique. Results of the study revealed that despite of the combined existing technique and algorithms used in the artificial intelligence game, and the techniques developed by the proponents, the computer-controlled enemy in the game Asteroids became more intelligent. It is recommended that improvement of the system should be made.
