Verification of audio signal processing algorithm using real-time simulator
Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is a modern digital technique for processing signals. Such digital manipulation technique is computationally intensive. Hence, DSPs are traditionally deployed on modern desktop computers, or on specialized processors called digital signal processors (DSPs). Developmen...

Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is a modern digital technique for processing signals. Such digital manipulation technique is computationally intensive. Hence, DSPs are traditionally deployed on modern desktop computers, or on specialized processors called digital signal processors (DSPs). In this paper, a methodology to implement health monitoring DSP algorithms onto wireless sensor node (WSN) hardware is proposed. Firstly, a DSP pre-processing technique was investigated and identified for benchmarking. Secondly, a suitable DSP hardware platform for DSP deployment was investigated. Thirdly, a Real-Time (RT) Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulator system was developed to verify the DSP algorithm implementation. It is shown that the proposed methodology and RT HIL simulator system compliment each other; The RT HIL simulator system is the next best thing to a real testbed. |
