Summary: | This study explores, in the business context, the concept of symbiosis and its effects on the bottom lines of companies. This helps to promote greater understanding of the Chinese market and thereby increase companies’ chances of success and survival when they tap into it. Hence, this study is relevant to companies that are interested in expanding into the People’s Republic of China, or companies which are already operating in PRC, and would like to improve their operations there. Our study is built on a similar study previously conducted in Hong Kong. Our analysis is based on data collected from 36 companies in Singapore and combined results from Hong Kong. In our findings, it can be concluded that symbiosis has a positive relationship with business outcomes, and specifically, symbiosis has a significant relationship with an organisation’s profitability. |
