Summary: | The HASL system enhanced with a submerged filter for ammonium removal was proposed for anaerobic digestion of high nitrogenous food waste. Application of the submerged filter improved the total COD removal and methane production in the methanogenic reactor (Rm). The second part of the project examined the effect of lipids, such as fat, oil, and grease (FOG) on the HASL system. Four HASL systems treating food waste with different FOG concentrations were used. The last part of this project looked into the inhibitory effect of NaCl salt on the HASL system. |
