Summary: | Colonoscopy is commonly used in the diagnosis of colonic pathology like cancer of the colon. At present, the colonoscopic procedure is often unpleasant for the patient and technically demanding for the endoscopist. Mainly, this is due to the working characteristics of current conventional colonoscopes which are not sufficiently flexible and requires the endoscopist to perform difficult manoeuvres during colonoscopy. Many researchers have attempted to automate the colonoscopy process. Their common objective being to find a less traumatic and technically less demanding way to perform colonoscopy. |
