Most of the theories discussing Zhuangzi’s thoughts, however, are mainly related to the Theory of Mind-Nature and the conceptual theory of “Qi”, omitting the importance of physical senses and bodily experiences. In fact, a lot of recent research findings have proven that human cognition process or mental action of acquiring knowledge is highly dependent of the bodily experiences of a being.
Traditional Chinese philosophy focus on self-cultivation development. The emphasis of China self-cultivation education is normally associated with the attempts to coordinate ones’ body and mind, which is similar to some features in modern embodied cognition theory.
This paper attempt to discover and debate the thesis of bodily experiences mentioned in Zhuangzi philosophy. The studies aim to explore a new point of view which connect Zhuangzi philosophy and embodied cognition theory. By highlighting the term “bodily experiences”, this paper will analyse and explain the relationship between an agent’s body sensorimotor capacities with his/her learning process. |
