Description
Summary:Are former residents of the Singapore Boys’ Home (SBH) hardened criminals, troublemakers, or just boys trying to find their way? Many know of the institution’s tall concrete walls and fences, but once these boys leave the compound and face society afresh, their journey is largely unknown. Last year, MSF extended post care for youths in youth homes to one year. According to MSF, the current aftercare system over the course of two-months is inadequate to help these youth transition into society. In light of three riots over the last three years, the move to a new building, and the new aftercare plans, this feature writing package offers a look into the lives of former residents of Singapore Boys’ Home and the struggles they face on their journey to reintegration.
