Description
Summary:Before the start of each academic semester, students in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) will need to plan the courses to be taken. Currently, Student Automated Registration System Planner (STARS Planner) is used as a platform for students to map out the timetable of the courses. However, this system lacks many important features that are potentially useful for students. The goal of this project was to develop Schedule Planner and Course Evaluation (SPACE) system, a web-based interface for NTU students to manage, plans, and review courses. Several text mining techniques will be employed to extract meaningful information from reviews, allowing students to get a brief overview of a course quickly and thereby make a better decision during course planning. This report will describe the methods used for text mining, such as sentiment analysis and adjective-noun pair extraction. Additionally, the interface of SPACE will be described in “Appendix B - User Guide” of this report.
