Description
Summary:Production of compressor has been available for more than 200 years where great amount of raw materials such as steel has been used in the production. In order to create a more sustainable environment by reducing carbon footprint, a compressor which requires lesser material and being more compact is needed. Hence, a Coupled Vane Compressor with smaller rotor to cylinder radii ratio has been invented. Based on the kinematic model of CVC that has been developed previously, 3 primary design recommendations are proposed in this thesis, with the aim of resolving the issue of vane rattling noise during the operation of the CVC prototype. Theoretical studies have been carried out for every design recommendation. Formulation of equations and graphs are used to evaluate the effectiveness of each proposed idea. In the aspect of engineering design, trade-offs or limitations in the new designs are inevitable. Hence, the limitations of every design recommendations have also been discussed.
