Singapore, being a modern city-state with a high population density, also faces the problem of increasing food waste. The current measures taken to reduce food waste in the retail sector in Singapore are relatively inadequate. This project aims to introduce a mobile application, named Foodscover, designed to reduce food waste in the retail context by offering discounted surplus food from retailers to the general public. The application would provide a platform for retailers to upload surplus food items at a discounted price at the end of a shift. Users will be able to see all discounted food items and purchase them through the application. In order to determine the acceptance towards Foodscover, a user study based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was conducted. This paper entails the development process of the application from the planning phase to the user study phase.
