As Virtual reality (VR) are gaining popularity in the world and the use of VR for simulation
has already been in the market for a long time. For the Institute of Mental Health to discharge
their patients, they had to let the patient go through a series of test which require at least one
psychiatrist or nurse to work one on one with the patient, making the need for human
resource and therefore increasing the time and cost for the healthcare institute.
With VR rehabilitation it allows the task needed to be tailored to the patient and with video
game like activities it could keep the patient more invested in doing the rehabilitation. The
patient would also be in a more secure and safe environment to carry out the task with the
psychiatrist and nurse being able to keep track of every move the patient is doing. With VR
the possibilities are endless. |
