Description
Summary:This project proposes the design of the home assistance robot that is commercially liable and can be replicated for deployment in Singapore and beyond. This robot is designed with the capability to virtually assist, communicate with users and perform basic household functions that includes vacuum cleaning and home surveillance. Despite the growing popularity of the use of domestic robots, multifunctional robots that are capable of both virtually and physically assisting the user, are either not widely available yet or affordable enough for the consumers. Therefore, the main concept behind the project's purpose is to develop an affordable house assistance robot that is not only able to provide companionship to the vulnerable population but also acts as a personal assistance. The following items are presented in this project: the literature review and research gap of the existing humanoid robots and assistance robots, the motivation behind the concept, the thought process and evaluation of the major functions of the robots by using morphology charts, the conceptual design evaluation, the assembly, exploded and part drawings of the 3D design model, the electrical design and components used, the software and hardware design including the motor and battery selection, the Finite Element Analysis of the critical components, the material selection process, the cost estimation for the fabrication and manufacturing of the prototype and the project roadmap to initialize a start-up company to commercialize the proposed multifunctional robot. The Autodesk Inventor Professional 2021 was used to develop the 3D design model and to perform the Finite Element Analysis.
