Description
Summary:This study aims to investigate the properties and behavior of square epoxy specimens under uniaxial dynamic loading at high strain rates and investigate the effects of varying pressures on the failure of the specimens. The effect of artificial cracks of different orientations introduced in the specimen will also be investigated. Specimens with five different orientations of artificial cracks and a control specimen with not initial cracks will be used in this study. Split-Hopkinson Pressure bar equipment will be used for the dynamic tests. Static tests will also be conducted on the specimens using a universal compression testing machine. The results obtained from the static tests will be used for comparison of the behavior of the epoxy material under static and dynamic compression loads. A high speed camera will be used to see its ability in capturing the failure of the specimens during the dynamic tests and to show how the different orientations of the artificial cracks would affect the crack patterns of the specimens.
