Summary:Many major shipping lines provide door to door service in addition to traditional sea transport service to meet customers’ needs. Many of these shipping lines provide door to door service through their logistics arms. This project aims to study the barriers faced by shipping companies as they expand into door-to-door service provision. Empirical data is collected through surveys and interviews. It also aims to study the theoretical justifications for door to door service as a whole and the different practices that occurred in the industry. Implications and recommendations will be drawn accordingly.
