Description
Summary:Door to door service by shipping lines is a recent phenomenon in the history of maritime transport. Many major shipping lines provide door to door service through carrier-affiliated logistics providers (CALPS). This paper aims to study how the degree of decision-making authority CALPs have relates with the extent of door to door services offered. This project studies both the theoretical justifications for door to door service by shipping lines as well as trends and practices that are prevalent in the door to door service industry. The empirical data collected for this paper was mainly obtained through internet research, surveys and interviews.
