Description
Summary:Singapore has been actively working towards a zero-waste nation. Adopting different approaches and practices in waste and resource management can support the building of a sustainable, resource-efficient and climate-resilient nation. Tackling food wastage is one of the many aspects to improve environmental sustainability and reduce climate change impact. Food is discarded due to improper storage, unappealing food ingredients and people overbuying it. With the fast-paced economic development, throwing away food is common in Singapore. It is done without a second thought if the food surplus can be provided or shared with the people around them. To prevent food from being wasted, the FoodFighter application is a platform to provide users in Singapore to share excess food for free. The project objective is to improve the user experience of the existing application created by the predecessor. In this project, a study involving the analysis, design and development of the application is done by understanding the current food wastage situation and practices. The project will then continue with developing, testing and evaluating the improved application. The development of the FoodFighter application can continue beyond the project timeline. Recommendations for future work are listed in this paper. It can be considered as a continuous improvement towards the application.
