Summary: | Final Year Project is a partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) in Nanyang Technological University. This project allows students to be involved in research and provide students with practical engineering skills. Also, it trains students to be independent, resourceful and responsible to prepare them for future challenges upon graduation.
This project explored the novel immunosensor based on amorphous (Ba,Sr)TiO3 thin film and in-plane interdigitated gold electrodes. Sol-gel derived Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) thin film has been demonstrated to be promising for biosensor applications. Chemical surface modification and protein immobilization were then applied subsequently for immunosensing. Dengue virus and human IgG detection experiments were carried out to study the interdigitated electrode structure (electrode gap size, electrode width, effective area) and BST thin film thickness on the effect of sensitivity. Also, EBV optimization study was carried out for future experiments.
This report presented the work done and results obtained during the project period from August 2008 to March 2009. It gave an introduction and the objectives of the project, literature review, experiment setup and procedures, results, conclusion, problems faced and lastly suggestions for future works. |
