Description
Summary:With the quick development of electrification, researchers have been looking into the demands of raising the performance for operation of a modern aircraft. A major component that is investigated is the actuators. Smart-material-based actuators has shown potential to bring about a significant improvement with the leading smart material being Piezoelectric. However, with the constraint of piezoelectric materials generating around 0.1%-0.2% of the original length [1], amplification methods must be researched to combat the constraint. The objective of this study is to explore the possibility of the implementation of amplification mechanisms for piezoelectric-based actuators, and suggesting and designing mechanisms that can be used in the aerospace systems. Furthermore, providing precise dimensioning, material selections and manufacturing process to produce them.
