Description
Summary:The report begins by introducing the motivation of the project: Waste reduction and demand for item rental. It also provides an analysis for Olio and MyRent, two item sharing mobile applications currently available in the market. In addition, various design and technology stack decisions are evaluated. The report then delves deep into the implemented solution, a peer-to-peer item rental mobile application built with the Flutter framework and Firebase. The basic functions include allowing a user to list, search and rent items. The application is also integrated with more advanced features such as a map function to visualize the locations of items and a chat function to facilitate communication during rental transactions. Another feature which allows users to customize their homepage by indicating their favorite categories was also deployed.
