UWB pulse generator/matched filter circuit design

In recent years, UWB wireless technology had an overwhelming edge over narrowband wireless technologies. This technology is now widely used for commercialized areas due to its wide bandwidth of 7.5 GHz (from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz) which has been permitted by Federal Communication Commission (FCC). This...

This technology is now widely used for commercialized areas due to its wide bandwidth of 7.5 GHz (from 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz) which has been permitted by Federal Communication Commission (FCC). This frequency range is very attractive for wireless communications and ranging because UWB is capable in having high data transfer rate, low equipment cost and multi-path immunity. The goal of this project is to design and fabricate a new UWB BPF for the pulse generator circuit. A narrow-band-notched UWB BPF on CB-CPW in full UWB pulse generation will be designed and fabricated because the generated pulse is very stable, and it can be used in UWB radio communication system as well as standard pulse in pulse measurement and evaluation of the systems and devices. The software used for simulation in this project is ADS by Agilent technologies. However, due to resources and time constraints, only a normal BPF is fabricated. The S-parameters of the simulated design is reasonably good, but the S-parameters of the fabricated design appear inconsistent with the simulated ones. This might be due to many reasons such as the precision of the fabrication machine, the non-linearity of the performance of the PCB board used.
