The scarcity of land affects all buildings, including library buildings and space. This study examined whether auxiliary storage facilities or library warehouses would be needed to supplement Singapore libraries in terms of additional storage space. It looked at the context of fifty selected libraries with regards to storage facilities. Of these fifty libraries surveyed, 72% returned their questionnaires. From the responses received, only 22.2% responded that their libraries would need additional storage facilities in a library warehouse. These cited lack of physical space within their existing premises as being the most vital reason for requiring warehousing services. From the 77.8% that rejected the proposal, it is clear that these libraries constantly refresh their collections and release sufficient space to accommodate all materials on the shelf.
