新加坡在建国前就已经把公民教育列入正规的教育系统里。公民教科书作为一种教 育媒介，通过其内容和教学方法，有效地促进公民教育，是一本向学生灌输和传达 公民意识的渠道。本文主要以三个不同时间段，即建国前、建国初期和建国后期， 着重探讨早期华文教科书试图建构出的好公民形象，并深入分析对所呈现的“好公 民”元素进行公民教育的原因及其对学生的建构作用。本文将以文本分析的方法， 从教科书的内容以及插图，这两方面分析不同时期的华文教科书来探究好公民形象 的嬗变，以及揭示理想公民背后所呈现的教育理念和国家治理方针。Citizenship education was included in Singapore's formal education system before independence. As an educational medium, citizenship textbooks effectively promote citizenship education through their content and teaching methods, serving as a channel to instil and promote citizenship awareness to students. This paper aims to explore the images of a “Good Citizenship” that was being constructed in Early Chinese textbooks during three different time periods: Pre-independence, early years of the nation’s independence, and post-independence. It further delves into an in-depth analysis of the reasons for educating students about the elements of a “Good Citizen” presented in these textbooks and their impact on students. Using the concept of text analysis, this paper will analyze the contents and pictorial illustrations of the Early Chinese textbooks from different periods. The paper will conclude by highlighting the evolution of “Good Citizenship” and unveiling the educational concepts and the national governance policy behind those images presented.
