In order to examine the effects of non-thermal RF field on human health, 293T human renal epithelial cells is exposed to GSM 900 mobile phone signals for 2 and 5 hours, following which comparison is made between the protein profile of the control and affected culture mapped out by LC/MS. Combined with the results obtained by another student conducting a similar experiment at different exposure duration58, it is found that only Histone H2A and Histone H4 responded to the radiation after 10 minutes, 40 minutes, 2 hours and 5 hours exposure. The regulation of histone observed may be due to RF-induced chromosomal instability, RF-induced double strand DNA breakage and experimental limitations. The first two causes listed are deeply associated with cancers and other diseases.
