Description
Summary:A deployable structure is a structure that can change its geometry when deployed. In the context of satellites, a deployable structure is used to package the satellite components for launch. The specific scope of this project is on the design of a deployable drag sail. A drag sail is a device used to increase the amount of surface area and thus increase the amount of drag of a satellite to facilitate its re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere and burn up. Drag sails are particularly useful for deorbiting satellites at the end of their operational life, reducing the amount of space debris. The objective of this project was the design and development of a Deployable Drag Sail, specifically for a CubeSat
