In the context of satellites, a deployable structure is used to package the satellite components for launch. The specific scope of this project is on the design of a deployable drag sail. A drag sail is a device used to increase the amount of surface area and thus increase the amount of drag of a satellite to facilitate its re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere and burn up. Drag sails are particularly useful for deorbiting satellites at the end of their operational life, reducing the amount of space debris.
