The use of liquid handling robots in laboratories help to drastically improve efficiency, accuracy and safety when conducting various protocols that involve pipetting of liquid. Current liquid handling robots that are available in the market are expensive, making them inaccessible. A possible method to reduce the cost is to create a liquid handling robot with 3D printed parts. The robot will be designed using a computer aided design (CAD) software and the parts will be 3D printed. The movement of the robot in the X, Y and Z axis will be controlled by stepper motors using an Arduino. The user of the robot will utilise a graphic user interface (GUI) to input commands for the robot. Through this approach, the aim is to democratise access to liquid handling automation within laboratory environments while maintaining performance and reliability.
