Summary: | There are already billions and billions of websites currently online in the
cyberspace and that number keeps growing every day. In order to compete with
another website, a website owner must understand the visitors need and their
behavior.
A web analytics program, such as the Page Ranking program and a web
Graphics User Interface (GUI), will enable search engine programmers to better
understand user behavior and patterns in order to better optimize the search
engine functions.
The Page Ranking program and graphics user interface allows the re-sorting of
the returned result by the Yahoo! Search engine and subsequently records the
user clicks. Through this user click results, one can analyze it and derive useful
data such as search patterns or user’s preference. Although it has not been run
and trialed on a big scale, the program is able to perform and meet its objectives
in the beta testing that was carried out.
This report will discuss the student’s attempt in designing the Project's web
Graphics User Interface and the tackling the problems encountered during the
course of programming it to work and meet the objectives it set out to meet. |
