This paper will focus on the romantic comedy and fantasy film “Till We Meet Again”, exploring the relationship between the portrayal of Yue Lao and the concept of love across different eras and texts. Love plays an extremely important role in every person's life, regardless of the stage of life they are in. It can appear in various forms throughout one’s life. From birth to entering society, everyone’s need for and understanding of love varies. The experiences we encounter throughout life constantly shape how we view the world, and this perception directly influences how people interpret and engage with films and other media contents. The main concept of Text and Images Studies perceives that every text can be interpreted in multiple ways, and the same applies when watching films. This paper will examine the transformation of the Yue Lao’s image in “Till We Meet Again” by exploring the classical text “Ding Hun Dian” and comparing it to modern cinematic depictions. Furthermore, it will investigate the role and identity of the Yue Lao in different texts, questioning whether love is predestined or if individuals have control over it. Ultimately, through analyzing “Till We Meet Again”, it reflects that love has changed over times and now individual plays the role of “Yue Lao” themselves.
