As construction projects grow more complex with technological advancements, the need for modernized and comprehensive management practices becomes critical. The study focuses on the essential soft skills that PMs must possess to effectively coordinate diverse teams—including consultants and contractors—while fostering strong interpersonal relationships. While technical competencies like contracts and procedures are well-established, this research underscores the significance of interpersonal skills in driving project management success. Through a global literature review and interviews with industry professionals, the study provides a broad perspective on current practices. By analysing PM-client-contractor dynamics and various contract models in Singapore, it hopes to offer actionable recommendations aimed at raising construction management standards, with a particular focus on enhancing the soft skills of future project managers.
