Summary: | Currently, Titanium Dioxide for applications as a photocatalyst is drawing more and more attentions because it can potentially address environmental issues and can reduce harmful organic compounds in the atmosphere and water.
In this project, Titanium Dioxide film synthesized by DC reactive magnetron sputtering technique is studied. Thorough investigations of parameters affecting the TiO2 film are carried out, followed by air annealing of thin film. Microstructural properties of synthesized Titanium Dioxide are evaluated by several characterization tools like X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Visible Raman Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Surface profiler and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). The bandgap of the samples are estimated from the results of transmittance measurement. Last but not least, the photocatalytic activity of the films are tested by the degradation of an organic contaminant, Methylene Blue, under the irradiation of fluorescent white light. The photocatalytic property and photoefficiency of titanium dioxide film is assessed using UV-VIS spectrometer. |
