Description
Summary:Advertising is a lucrative business and using billboard is one popular way to display advertisements. Current digital billboards available are lacking of a balance of both context awareness and interactive features. Human Machine Interface (HMI) related technology such as touch technology and finger sensing can be used to implement interactive features. Finger sensing is however complex to implement. This complexity can be reduced by using a Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) sensor used by Wiimote. In this project a model is designed and developed to include useful context awareness features as well as interactive features. Context awareness features are implemented by scheduling the advertisement using time, temperature and humidity. Interactive features are implemented by including connectivity with mobile devices using Bluetooth. The interactive features demonstrated in this project uses connected mobile device to play flash advertisement game. In addition, to incorporate intuitive interaction, touch technology and finger sensing is incorporated into this model. The MOT sensor in the Wiimote is first used, without dismantling, to implement finger sensing. Reverse engineering is then carried out to remove the MOT sensor from the Wiimote so as to interface directly with the Renesas H8S2378 Microcontroller (MCU). It is also assessed for its feasibility to be used as part of the model for interactive digital billboard.
