Summary:Experimental investigations of deep-hole drilling of two aerospace materials, Inconel 718 Nickel-based superalloy and E52100 high carbon steel, were conducted using a pulsed solid state NdrYAG laser. The Taguchi technique of experimental design was used to optimize the process parameters. Drilling time was the primary response under study. Metallographic and metallurgical examinations were also made.
